Do you carry out full roof replacements?
No. Slipped Slates Edinburgh specialises only in small slipped, cracked, and displaced slate repairs. We do not carry out full re-roofs, large scale lead flashing renewal, or guttering work ourselves. If your roof genuinely needs one of those bigger jobs, we will tell you honestly, and point you toward tradespeople whose larger scale work we rate.
This is a deliberate choice, not a limitation we are working around. Full re-roofing, extensive lead work, and guttering renewal are different jobs, requiring different equipment, crew sizes, and scheduling to a small slate repair, and firms set up to do them well are generally not the same firms best placed to fix a couple of slipped slates quickly, which is exactly the gap our why small jobs get turned down guide describes from the other direction.
How to tell if you need a full re-roof rather than a repair
- Slipped or damaged slates are widespread across most or all of the roof, rather than confined to a small area.
- The sarking boards underneath are found to be significantly decayed when inspected, rather than sound.
- Multiple areas of flashing across the roof (not just one chimney or dormer) have failed.
- A surveyor or previous roofer has already advised that re-roofing is the appropriate course of action.
If none of that applies and the issue is a small, defined area of slipped or missing slate, that is exactly the job we take on.
